COLLAGE & DESTROY
Collage & Destroy is a series of artworks that utilize “artwork waste” as the primary material in its creation process. The materials used come from leftovers from previous works, such as TP (test prints), AP (artist proofs), and prints damaged by a fire at the Krack! studio in July 2025. These fragments not only serve as materials but also carry traces of the history, failures, and transformations of previous works.
This series does not depart from a single, specific theme. Rather, it serves as an exploratory space for studying the technical and aesthetic possibilities of visual art practice, particularly through the approaches of collage and deconstruction. The visual sources in this work are drawn from various previous series, including Prajurit Kalah Tanpa Raja (Soldiers Lose Without a King), Soekarno Hilang Lukisan (Soekarno Loses Paintings), ID Politics (ID Politics), and Primbon Betaljemur Adammakna (Adammakna’s Primbon Betaljemur). Overall, these works reflect social situations related to politics, religion, power, tension, and injustice.
In the Collage & Destroy series, the practice of destroying and reassembling becomes both a method and a statement: that destruction is not the end, but rather part of the cycle of creation itself.
